Why Bone Marrow Stem Cell Therapy?

At Atlas Medical Center, our providers collect bone marrow aspirate using a new proprietary device. This new device, is the only device that has been given FDA clearance to aspirate bone marrow. Atlas Medical Center is currently the only center in the Metroplex using this FDA Cleared Device for extracting stem cells. While “older” devices used to perform this technique were painful, lengthy, and some required the patient to be under general anesthesia. This new device allows the procedure to be virtually painless, and it requires NO downtime. It’s an outpatient procedure that allows patients to be “in an out” of our office in 30-45 minutes.
First, to extract the bone marrow aspirate our providers use a LOCAL anesthetic so that the area is completely numb. Patients typically report that the ENTIRE process is almost completely painless, but some patients experience slight, minimal discomfort when being administered the anesthetic. Once the stem cells have been collected the cells are then injected into the injured tissue or joint and the healing process begins.
This minimally invasive procedure is completed in one day offering patients an effective treatment with a low impact on their normal life. Many patients return to normal activity after the treatment. A few patients report experiencing minimal to mild soreness 24-48 hours after the treatment.
