Our Approach

We know that our patients want long lasting relief and they want to be able stay active and not be sidelined, and that’s exactly what we strive to do. As such Atlas Medical Center is primarily focused on minimally invasive alternative procedures that can potentially improve your symptoms and help facilitate repair to the damaged structure in your back without a lengthy recovery. When appropriate, our medical team’s approach is to use PRP, bone marrow cell therapy, and/or restorative therapies to help accomplish these goals. In addition, we always use ultrasound guidance for every injection so that the injectable is injected precisely into the area of the body to help establish an environment conducive to tissue healing and repair.

Non-Surgical Therapies for Back Pain Relief

At Atlas Medical Center, we specialize in helping those suffering from back pain. We use the industry’s latest alternatives to surgery and steroids. We help those with pain due to a range of conditions from spondylolisthesis, spinal arthritis, intervertebral disc degeneration, spinal stenosis and herniated discs.

At Atlas Medical Center we do not offer a cookie cutter approach to relieving back pain. Instead, every patient is thoroughly evaluated to determine which procedure would best work for them.

Platelet Rich Plasma therapy and bone marrow cell therapy are thought to help enhance the body’s own natural healing ability. For some, these therapies are then followed up with other non-surgical therapies such as laser therapy or spinal decompression therapy to help facilitate and accelerate the healing process.

Non-Surgical Therapy for Facet Syndrome Pain

Facet syndrome is a condition that affects the small joints between the vertebrae that make up the spine and is one of the most common conditions causing lower back and neck pain. These joints are constantly moving, providing the stability and flexibility needed to walk, sit, turn, and bend. Each of these small joints of the neck and spine contain soft tissues and cartilage that absorb shock during these movements and are important to protect the bones from rubbing against each other and causing friction. This can cause inflammation and swelling of the joints, and make even make slight movements painful.

Pain from Facet syndrome has historically been difficult to relieve, but now there may be other options available; ultimately providing an alternative to medications, epidural injections, and surgery.

Non-Surgical Therapy for Pain from Degenerative Disc Disease

The spine is made up of several vertebrae, separated by soft tissue and cartilage that provides cushioning between the bones. The cartilage between each bone is called a disc, and each disc keeps the bones from rubbing against one another. Disc degeneration occurs when this cartilage wears down or becomes damaged.

If left untreated, disc degeneration can limit mobility and lead to bone spurs and chronic pain. People suffering from back pain no longer have to settle for pain medications, epidural injections, or surgical procedures. Atlas offers an advanced, non-surgical alternative to surgery that may help relieve the back pain. Our team is experienced in finding the right therapy options that may help relieve or eliminate pain, reduce inflammation, and help get you feeling better fast.

Non-Surgical Therapy for Lumbar Arthritis Pain

Lumbar arthritis is chronic inflammation of the soft tissues within the joints of the lower back. Cartilage discs that sit between each vertebrae provide support and stability for the constant movement in the back. When the supportive tissues are damaged from injury or begin to deteriorate, painful swelling and inflammation can occur from friction between the bones. Arthritis can become an ongoing, chronic issue that not only causes pain, stiffness, and swelling, but can limit mobility and the ability to perform daily activities. The use of PRP, Laser Therapy, and Spinal Decompression therapies may have the potential to help eliminate or substantially relieve the inflammation and pain from lumbar arthritis.

Non-Surgical Therapy for Osteoarthritis Pain

Osteoarthritis is the degeneration of the protective cartilage that covers the ends of the bones in the joints. It is also known as degenerative arthritis or wear and tear arthritis. The protein that makes up the cartilage degenerates by forming tiny cracks or by flaking. This can eventually result in a total loss of cartilage. Once the cartilage is lost, the friction between the bones can stimulate spurs or bony growths to form around the joints. Unfortunately, living with osteoarthritis can be debilitating the constant wear and tear can cause pain and a loss of function.  Many times patients are prescribed pain medications, epidural injections and even surgery- oftentimes with minimal relief.

Atlas’ approach is different.  Our goal is to help relieve back pain and improve your quality of life without the recovery time and risk associated with back surgeries and pain medications.  Over the years we have treated countless number of patients suffering with back pain and have had positive results.

Relief from Back Pain…Diagnosing the Underlying Cause of Your Pain

At Atlas Medical Center we have been helping patients get relief from back pain even after other conventional treatments such as medications, cortisone injections, physical therapy and surgery have failed. When you arrive for your first visit at our center our priority will be to figure out the cause of your pain.  That is why we always begin by talking to you and REALLY listening to you.  Discussing your symptoms and how they’ve affected your day to day activities are a crucial step in determining your underlying condition.  We will then perform a thorough exam that will include orthopedic, neurological tests, and postural tests.  We will evaluate your back for tender areas and trigger points.  We will also assess your spine for biomechanical issues.  In addition, we will take any necessary weight bearing spinal x-rays which will allow to see the bony structures of your spine.  If we believe that there is a disc or nerve injury we will order additional advanced imaging to determine a clear diagnosis.  The end result is an individualized treatment program that integrates therapies that allow us to enhance the body’s ability to heal naturally and are customized depending on your  health, diagnosis, and severity of your condition.  Our approach takes the best components from some of the current non-surgical therapy options and puts them into one.
