PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy) in Irving, TX

What is This Therapy?

PRP is —a non-surgical healing therapy that uses components of your own blood to promote your body’s ability to heal itself.

The process of making PRP is relatively straight forward and starts with a simple blood draw. Our Medical Team draws YOUR blood and places it in a powerful centrifuge that spins your blood at an ultra-high setting.

This process separates the platelets, the disc shaped cells known for their ability to heal, from white and red blood cells into a highly-concentrated form otherwise known as Platelet Rich Plasma. This plasma is RICH with platelets, proteins, and a variety of growth factors. There are about 7-8 different Growth factors in platelet rich plasma that help make other cells work faster and harder as they assist in healing injured tissue.

Platelet Rich Plasma should not be confused with stem cell therapy. There are no stem cells in PRP. However, it does attract stem cells to the injured area, therefore it is often used in conjunction with or as a ‘booster’  to other regenerative therapies.

The Importance of Ultrasound Guidance.

With the assistance of MUSCULOSKELETAL ULTRASOUND guidance, the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is injected into the site of a damaged tissue or joint. Ultrasound guidance eliminates all the guess work. We know precisely by looking at the damaged area in REAL TIME where this plasma needs to be injected. (We also use a local numbing agent so that there is minimal discomfort.)

PRP is extremely safe. Because your own blood is used for the injection there is little to no risk of infection, and there is a very low to no risk of allergic reaction. It is an outpatient procedure, and takes less than an hour to perform and complete the process.
